you meet a nice guy. you think you hit off. he tells you you’re beautiful. he likes you. he pushes the hair out of your face when he talks to you. he wants to see you again. definitely. and then you get home, friend him on facebook and just as you’re waiting to take your relationship to the next level, hello facebook chatting…reality sets in. he turns down your friend request. okay, what went wrong?
there are a million reasons why he could have rejected your friend request. first, he’s just not that into you. i know it’s hard to believe. he said he liked you. but i mean he was also probably trying to get in your pants when he said that. hormones and a lot of whiskey can make you say pretty crazy thing.
second, you were just a vacation fling/a one-night stand. i know it sucks but it’s time to mooooooove on.
third, he has a girlfriend. even if he pointblank says, “i don’t have a girlfriend,” it means nothing. i mean…hello wes! she’s not standing there to defend their relationship. the truth is guys do cheat and they do lie. a guy friend of mine recently explained this to me. some men don’t really mean to cheat. yah right? they like the idea of having a girlfriend and although they find it difficult to be faithful, there’s something comforting about knowing someone is at home waiting for you. so when you go on vacation and meet a girl that kind of reminds of your girl back at home, you cling onto her and treat her the way you would treat your main girl. is it right? no. is it logical? not as logicical as it should be but in some twisted way, it does kind of make sense.
okay, back to the matter at hand…rejection. it’s never easy, no matter what form it comes in. look at it this way, would you rather he accept your request and defriend you a couple days later? i mean the sooner you realize he’s not into you, the sooner you can just get over it. even if you weren’t looking for anything serious, it doesn’t matter. you may have just friended him so you could keep track of the notches on your belt. we all have our reasons. either way, cut your losses and don’t waste another second on the loser and if he does have a girlfriend, it’s okay to secretly hope he gets caught. just watch out for angry facebook messages from pissy girlfriends…
